Wie Microsoft mitteilt, ist die Lösung mit „Visual Studio 2005“ und „Visual Studio 2008“ vollständig kompatibel. Innovationen im Standard XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language), ermöglichen sowohl standardbasierte und mit „Microsoft Silverlight“ erweiterte Web-Anwendungen als auch Client-Anwendungen für Windows Vista und .NET Framework 3.5 zu erstellen. Insgesamt bietet die neue Suite laut Hersteller mehr als 100 neue Funktionen. Der Preis steht noch nicht fest.
